Nude

Nude as a colour is a really difficult one to work with - it needs to be warm and natural without encroaching on beige or (especially not) magnolia. Nude is more, in fact, about an atmosphere than about an actual colour. I think these images show that off quite well.







Emerald

An under-used colour but just so fantastic! Emerald is a very specific shade of green that emulates the luxury and opulence of a more formal age. It's more sophisticated than just 'green' - I think most people just aren't brave enough to go emerald.








Blue

A colour that surely cannot offend - it comes in so many shades and tones that there must be one for everyone. Blue is fresh and exciting, not too loud but not too quiet either. When in doubt, go for blue. Or grey.









Mood Boards

In our modern interior design lives, we spend almost all of our time on the computer.
That doesn't mean that we have forgotten the importance of the good old fashioned mood board! Before all of our meetings we lay out a good selection of samples and materials for clients to see and we tend to have little collections on our desks next to our computers for inspiration. Never underestimate the value of seeing and feeling the real thing.










The Return of Colour

Believe it or not but it's true... colour is making a comeback. I have to say that as much as we are the main advocate for simple, natural design, it's quite refreshing to see an outburst of colour - especially in London!

We're predicting a very colourful year at Maison et Objet this September! ;)







Mint

Some people might say that mint is last year's colour but I still think it's great - especially a muted, greyish mint colour is very much on trend this year. Mint is a great way of introducing some colour into a scheme without overpowering the design with too much of a bold colour palette. Moreover, the white gloss kitchen is going out and matt colour kitchens are in, the simpler the better! I especially love the top image - mint green, matt and marble. Perfection.








White white white

When white is pure white and all encompassing, it is oh so calm and quiet. We love white in its entirety - if done correctly, there won't be a need for another colour! Shhhh...
