Nude

Nude as a colour is a really difficult one to work with - it needs to be warm and natural without encroaching on beige or (especially not) magnolia. Nude is more, in fact, about an atmosphere than about an actual colour. I think these images show that off quite well.







Rustic

We love it when we get to design log cabins and chalets in the Swiss alps - the natural materials, warm lighting, live fires and rustic feel. It's what makes the Ardesia style! It's probably why we try to bring that cabin warmness to London by adding small rustic details to the modern interiors we design.








Kitchens

The modern kitchen is changing. Full-on, gloss white kitchens are slowly being phased out for a return back to something more casual and comfortable. Rustic is coming back but only as an accent - in essence, the new modern kitchen should feel warm and friendly with simple cabinets (matt colours are back) and a touch of nature, such as a wooden or stone countertop.









Beige

It makes us very displeased when people describe boring interiors or things as 'beige' because we think beige is an amazing colour with a great deal of depth and variety! So many tones and shades of this colour can all be called beige and all have a different strength, warmth and feel. When we say a room is beige, it's a compliment!








Peonies

Another one of my favourite flowers but so difficult to get hold of. I know they don't bloom just yet but I'm posting about them in anticipation of early summer, when for a few weeks I can decorate my home (and probably our office too) with peonies.







Linen

Our favourite fabric by far is linen. We love that it's natural, deeply textured, sometimes uneven and just so lively and hard wearing. It's the perfect way to add the finishing touch to a design. We especially love linen when it's used to create contrast with a very minimal interior.








White Floors

If we could make the whole world grey and white, we probably would. Just kidding, we wouldn't do that even though we know they are the best colours to paint everything in. We love painted wooden floors in WHITE, they are just so clean-cut and fresh, especially in modern interiors with a rustic twist.







Spring Palette

We love spring (almost as much as we love summer)! Everything just feels so alive after the long, cold winter and we can finally consider venturing into the outdoors. Strangely, spring makes us feel more lively and BRAVER about using colour. Spring is traditionally the time for pastel colour palettes and we just love the combinations in the images below.







Bursts of Colour

England, especially London, can be so very dull at times. Not that we're ones to talk with our natural grey colour palettes but we should all strive to use more colour! It's not like we'd every go crazy with colour (simple does it), but we LOVE little additions or BURSTS of colour as we like to call them - accents can add so much to a design without being overwhelming.
