Textile

When it comes to textiles, the designers at Ardesia know what we like and stick to it. The world of textiles is just incredibly saturated with fantastic fabrics and when you get up close and into the fine detail, even just a 100% stonewashed linen can come in hundreds of different finishes. We know what works and what doesn't, what textures to put together and for what use.

Here is a collection of very 'Ardesia' fabrics. ;)

Luiz Fabrics and Custom Bedlinens

I recently met with a lovely representative from Luiz fabrics - a German fabric company. The fabrics themselves were just our style - linens and cottons in a beautiful array of natural, soft tones. The company also produces custom bed linens, whereby customers can choose the front and back fabric on pillowcases as well as the stitching or edge detail. You can even have your name or initials embroidered into your bedsheets. The quality and range available was just fantastic and for a price that is most certainly value for money, considering the standard of fabrics.

We are even considering collaborating with Luiz to create our own range of 'Ardesia' bed linens and throws!

From their Website:

Every piece is unique.
With this principle in mind, interfrotta has been manufacturing high-quality home textiles for the exclusive private and sophisticated business markets for over 40 years. The company, owned by the Luiz family, sets great store by the maxims: perfect quality, traditional values and unlimited individuality.
Headquartered in Hürth, Germany, we pride ourselves on our flexibility and specialise in transforming the ideas and desires of our customers into fine home textiles for bedrooms, dining rooms and bathrooms. Our in-house tailoring studio is an established and very important component of this: this is where all products are produced with great attention to detail and careful bespoke handiwork. The extensive selection of materials and the permutation of all kinds of forms and sizes enable the greatest degree of individuality.
In order to put this uniqueness into practice, our tailoring team insists on the most up-to-date technical resources and state-of-the-art processing techniques, paired with traditional craftsmanship.
With a great deal of care and consideration, we select fine textiles made from the highest quality raw materials for our collections. These are sourced from the best European weaving mills. With their colours and qualities, the fabrics always represent a contemporary style and attitude towards life. Only by making these exacting demands on ourselves can we ensure that the ideas and dreams of our customers are transformed into perfect products.

French Inspired

My favourite thing about French design and interiors is the way they make use of little rustic details and found objects. I also love the use of natural materials like linen and wood and the 'distressed' or 'aged' look that the French are so good at using in conjunction with modern interiors. An inspiration to us for sure.

Linen

Our favourite fabric by far is linen. We love that it's natural, deeply textured, sometimes uneven and just so lively and hard wearing. It's the perfect way to add the finishing touch to a design. We especially love linen when it's used to create contrast with a very minimal interior.

Aigre-Doux

Aigre-Doux (translation: sweet and sour) is one of our French suppliers of custom-designed bed linen. The quality and subtleness of these products is extremely high for a reasonable price. It's rare to find a supplier one can trust to always produce a quality product, exactly the way we want it! <3

MILAN DESIGN WEEK REVIEW - Manifestos Tribe

A company we loved in Milan was Manifestos Trive, Italian company who produce lovely furniture products using natural materials such as linen, wood and leather. We especially loved the leather poufs with the zip detail (images below) - although they look slouchy, they were actually very structured to sit on and quite solid inside. We also loved the directors chair that folds away into its own carrier bag for easy storage/transport. We first thought that the seat looks so narrow that how can it be sat on but it was in fact very comfortable (and very innovative)!

From their website:

Manifesto it is a Tonuccidesigns cell born from the will of concretely and tangibly promote the culture of the project in respect of nature and man combining design and production process. The materials we use, mainly wood and leather, are uniquely treated with linen oil for wood or vegetable tannin for leather, which allow the material to maintain its beauty, exalt its natural characteristics and help to form that special patina and enchantment of the object. The products are sometimes reinterpretations of historical anonymous famous design projects or can be a new design.
All the production is made in Italy, Montefeltro, with the exception of the sculptural base of the table Africa that is a limited production.

Soft, Floaty Curtains

We're choosing some curtain fabrics (custom made) for a client and we've found some amazing fabrics that are almost so ethereal it's like they don't even touch the air. If you're not adverse to constant light, these types of curtains can add a lot of atmosphere to a room - although in winter they aren't very warm!
