We love the new modern minimal trend - whites and neutrals, natural stone or wooden worktops and cabinets, rustic charm... it feels very refreshing after the 'empty' minimalism that has been on trend recently.

Cabin Chic
One member of the Ardesia Design staff (it might be me) is lucky enough to soon be moving into a log cabin on a lovely English farm. It's dream come true and has been a long time coming and there will be a lot of fun designing and hard work ahead to design the interior of the cabin once it is up. Since the design in is the detail (or was it the devil?), here are some images for inspiration:
MILAN DESIGN WEEK REVIEW - Manifestos Tribe
A company we loved in Milan was Manifestos Trive, Italian company who produce lovely furniture products using natural materials such as linen, wood and leather. We especially loved the leather poufs with the zip detail (images below) - although they look slouchy, they were actually very structured to sit on and quite solid inside. We also loved the directors chair that folds away into its own carrier bag for easy storage/transport. We first thought that the seat looks so narrow that how can it be sat on but it was in fact very comfortable (and very innovative)!

The materials we use, mainly wood and leather, are uniquely treated with linen oil for wood or vegetable tannin for leather, which allow the material to maintain its beauty, exalt its natural characteristics and help to form that special patina and enchantment of the object. The products are sometimes reinterpretations of historical anonymous famous design projects or can be a new design.
All the production is made in Italy, Montefeltro, with the exception of the sculptural base of the table Africa that is a limited production.

MILAN DESIGN WEEK REVIEW - Nature Design and Camilla Barnard (Illustrator)
Day 2: Nature Design
The materials of the new collection Nature Design have ancient roots. Precious woods that narrate stories through the natural imperfections of the surfaces and the diversity the natural pattern and grain of the wood, as it warps and changes with time. Each piece is unique and unrepeatable. It's this rustic character that drew us to this company and we just love the playful element of wood in it's natural, un-polished form.

Day 2: Camilla Barnard (Illustrator)
We found this fantastic Illustrator When perusing the late-night galleries in Milan Town Centre.
We loved the cheeky prints (and funny puns) from this young illustrator - and for prints at such good prices, we have to get our hands on a few of these!
