Nude

Nude as a colour is a really difficult one to work with - it needs to be warm and natural without encroaching on beige or (especially not) magnolia. Nude is more, in fact, about an atmosphere than about an actual colour. I think these images show that off quite well.







Kitchens

The modern kitchen is changing. Full-on, gloss white kitchens are slowly being phased out for a return back to something more casual and comfortable. Rustic is coming back but only as an accent - in essence, the new modern kitchen should feel warm and friendly with simple cabinets (matt colours are back) and a touch of nature, such as a wooden or stone countertop.









A Good Night's Sleep

There's nothing better than getting a good night's sleep and often the room we sleep in can very much influence the quality of sleep we get. A simple room painted in calm colours and kept tidy provides the best platform to lay our minds to rest.

When it comes to bedrooms, simple is always good - a room with typically lots of textile, it's a space that can easily become dusty and cluttered. We like to keep our bedrooms quite simple so that it is a clean, relaxing place to sleep. However, anyone who can keep a bedroom as simple as these ones deserves a medal!

Regardless of your style or taste, the underlying theme in all good interior design is function - this means things need to work well, interact well with the user, provide plenty of storage space and make our busy lives easier. I love this set of images because they describe how I feel about interior design - the rustic charm of these interiors remains but is simplified by the modern fit-out.

We're big fans of white kitchens, as you probably know. For a room where so much is constantly going on, we feel it's important to keep it as simple as possible to keep clutter to a minimum. White kitchens are a great, neutral backdrop for your busy and exciting kitchen life.  After all, the kitchen is the heart of the home.
